If you would like to transfer a domain name from one registrar to another, you’ll have to pass through several safety procedures. One of them is getting a unique EPP code from the present registrar company – as long as you are the domain registrant, since the code is emailed to the owner's email address and nobody else can get it. You’ll need to give this code to the new registrar company, or else they won’t be able to start the transfer procedure. The EPP authorization codes are case-sensitive and may comprise of digits or special symbols such as commas or dots, which can be easily mistyped, so make sure you copy and paste the correct code. As an extra safety measure, the transfer authorization code for a domain may be altered on a regular basis. Some domain registrars call this code a domain password, an Auth key or a domain secret as well.
